Tabora RC calls for end to water woes

Tabora regional commissioner Abeid Mwinyimusa has urged the Tabora Urban Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (Tuwasa) to work effectively to end water woes facing the region.

Mwinyimusa said this recently at the launch of the new Tuwasa board.

He said the authority was facing a lot of challenges especially water problems, noting that it was the responsibility of the authority to ensure people had access to clean and safe water.

The RC mentioned some of the challenges facing Tuwasa as lack of water sources.

He explained that Tuwasa’s water system was very old and most of its customers were not paying their water bills in time making it fail to operate efficiently.

For his part, Tuwasa Acting Board Director Eng Mkama Bwire commended the outgoing water board under former board chairman Mugaya Mtaki for doing a good job.

He said the outgoing board had increased customers from 9,248 in 2007 to 10,576 in June this year.

Announcing the names of the board members on behalf of Minister for Water and Irrigation Prof Mark Mwandosya, the acting Tuwasa director named them as Pastor Paul Misgalo, the new Tuwasa board chairman. Others are Eng Mkama Bwire, secretary of the board. Other members of the board are Mwannne Mchemba, Eng Frida Rweyemamu, Dick Mlimuka, Esther Madale, Theresia Mmbando, Fanueli Senge and Idd Ame.
