I grew up in Tanzania from 1949 -1970. In December 2003 I returned to Tabora Tanzania for the first time since my daughter Carina was born there in 1964. During the visit I was asked to help find money for water/sanitation projects. The film depicts the construction of a well at Kwihala Village & a rainwater harvesting tank built at Isukamahela School.
The villagers take ownership of the wells/tanks & sustain them, a key component for empowering them towards self sufficiency. Many babies & children die of preventable diseases caused by contaminated water. Just after I raised money for the first well located at Inonelwa Village my daughter Carina died unexpectedly. I named the project in her memory, as a gift to the children & babies where the wells are installed. We all have the power to affect change & make a difference. Carina Water Wells Project
